We are looking for a dynamic and competent person for this role within the Strategic Highways Maintenance Team. The position is to assist with the delivery of planned highways maintenance works, carry out surveys and investigation, provide team support, while managing your own individual workload.

As a team we are responsible for the delivery of planned maintenance work across Bristol, including road resurfacing, patching work, road markings, highway drainage, winter maintenance, and preventative maintenance including surface dressing, micro asphalt, and footway slurry seal.

Ideally you will have appropriate qualifications and or relevant previous technical experience of project managing highway maintenance related work, but we will also consider individuals who have relevant transferable skills and who have the determination and underlying abilities to succeed in this role.

The post would suit a dynamic, enthusiastic person who has good communication skills, some previous project management experience, and an ability to find solutions for problems which they encounter. We offer training and mentoring, so it is as much about your attitude, curiosity, and desire to succeed, as previous experience and qualifications.

The role involves site work and you may be required to sometimes work out of normal working hours to aid with the supervision of work, for which enhancements are payable.

You will need a valid UK driving licence and as BCC operate a grey fleet, be required to use your own vehicle for which mileage is paid and a parking pass provided.

Please be mindful that we can only progress applicants who show that they meet the requirements of the Essential Criteria as set out in the Person Specification. That can be in the way of transferable skills and we will make an allowance for those who haven’t worked in this work area before.
