Lincolnshire County Council is an ambitious and progressive organisation that strives to provide a modern and responsive public service to the residents of Lincolnshire.

We have 4 Local Highways teams covering North, South, East and West of Lincolnshire and have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Highways Officer to work across these geographical boundaries to provide resilience for the Local Highways teams across the County and to work on projects that span geographical and internal team boundaries.

Our highways infrastructure is seen as high priority by our elected members, as it supports the local economy, provides access to jobs and services, and enables thousands of visitors to experience our beautiful coast and countryside.

Our Local Highways teams are at the front line of ensuring that the highway network is safe with inspections and safety repairs as well as responding to reports made by the public. They deal with issues ranging from potholes, vegetation, road markings and sign repairs through to drainage, reacting to weather events, emergency planning and badgers!

A typical week for a County-wide Senior Highways Officer might consist of:

  • Meeting your whole team monthly at a local office for an in-person team meeting.
  • Working on projects across the County with other internal teams such as electric vehicle charging initiatives, identifying specialist materials within the highway and delivering minor maintenance work.
  • Overseeing a specific work set for all Local Highways teams eg inspections, enforcement and being the go-to person for our teams for guidance.

We recognise that individual needs differ and you will be supported to achieve the best mix for yourself to achieve agreed outcomes. We closely monitor individuals’ workloads and progress, to ensure a work life balance is achieved.

Hybrid working is a feature of this role. The successful applicant will be required to attend the office alongside the rest of the team a minimum of once a week.  On occasion additional days may be required.
