About the role
This is an excellent opportunity to part of a team of Highway Development Engineers delivering high quality development across West Northampton. West Northampton is growing rapidly and the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future development of highway and transport infrastructure, which is vital to supporting sustainable economic growth and prosperity.
Working closely with Planning and Highway teams, you will join a team of 3 officers that assess the impact of proposed development. With the aim of delivering safe, accessible and sustainable developments, we are looking for someone with technical knowledge and excellent negotiation skills, particularly on major development.
What will you be doing?
The role is responsible for the co-ordination of a highway development management functions including highway and engineering advice on planning applications and road adoptions to the Council, councillors, colleagues within other Council disciplines and developers.
The role will secure funding from developers, where appropriate, to support and deliver the Council’s policies and strategies as may be adopted or promoted by the Council or Government.
A significant part of the Highways and Transport service area is funded through income generated by the services provided by the Development Liaison Team and the post holder will be expected to maintain and maximise future income streams.
About you
West Northamptonshire Council is seeking an experienced Development Management Engineer to join our Highways Development Management team.
The ideal candidate will hold a HND or degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, along with experience in Highway Development Management.
