Do you have the passion and drive to support some of our vulnerable children & young people to reach their potential?

We are looking to recruit an Independent Travel Buddy to join our dedicated, small but expanding team to assist with the implementation, promotion, delivery and monitoring of sustainable transport solution projects to support children & young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within the Borough.

We are passionate and committed to providing suitable and appropriate support to children and young people to allow them to gain the necessary life skills to be able to confidently use public transport to widen their educational, social and employment opportunities and are establishing an Independent Travel Training scheme within the Borough.

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, self-motivated, helpful and customer focused individual with excellent communication skills to help develop and maintain day to day relationships with children & young people, their families/carers, educational establishments and other colleagues within the transport services team.

The successful applicant will be required to follow various Council procedures including Health and Safety, Child Protection and an Enhanced DBS will be required before employment can be commenced.

In addition, there is a requirement for the successful applicant to attend a 2 day Level 2 Accreditation Course – Teaching Independent Travel Training Skills (RQF) which will be funded by the Local Authority.
