Job Details

Our Greenwich Plan sets out our vision for the next 4 years focusing on the changes we collectively want to see in our borough and Council.  We want to become a more strategic, efficient and adaptive organisation, to deliver for our communities.  Our workforce is key to making this happen.

Royal Greenwich is a borough synonymous with first class modern services. Our vibrant, diverse communities span Greenwich town centre in the west, to Thamesmead in the east, from the Greenwich Peninsula in the north to Eltham in the south. Royal Greenwich has a reputation for combining ambition with delivery. We are on a journey towards a low carbon future and the sustainability agenda will influence all areas of the Council’s work.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Council’s ambitions for our future transport network, implement high-profile schemes and maintain a strong grip on the delivery of key projects.

To be successful in this post you will be as comfortable with strategy as you are with leading large operations. You will need to bring energy, tenacity and strong communication skills. You will thrive on data and evaluation to evidence and inform delivery and service improvements.

Above all, you’ll be committed to delivering an efficient, well-connected network that our residents love – with a carbon footprint that we can be proud of, as well as delivering the councils Transport Strategy.

About the Role

We are looking for an Electric Vehicle Charging Officer to join our Public Realm Infrastructure Team.

The postholder will report to the Street Lighting Manager and will lead on and undertake the design, implementation, and delivery of our Electric Vehicle Charging Point Strategy. You will gather data on current EV charging technologies and provide technical advice and expertise to support the design and program for installation of EV Charging points within council owned assets.

The successful candidate will also prepare estimates of costs and outline project plans relating to installation of EV Charging points on the Highway, other council departments and proposed new developments.

About You

We are looking for someone that is data driven and has a good understanding of the current Electric Vehicle charging technologies and would typically have a background in electrical engineering along with current recognised qualifications within this field. You would ideally have a good understanding of the IET code of practice for EV Charging Equipment Installations and knowledge of compliance with the relevant UK regulations. Given the current and future advances in this area you will be required to adjust and keep up to date with changes and adapt accordingly.

You will have excellent principles of project management with the ability to manage multiple projects from initial survey to final installation while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. You will forge excellent working relationships with the team and stakeholders and work well under pressure.

As well as this, you will also undertake a discipline lead role whilst working alongside less experienced members of the team using your experience to mentor and develop apprentices and other department members that utilise the EV Charging services.
