It couldn’t be a more important and exciting time to join the team here at Rotherham. It’s a wonderful place, with its eyes set firmly on the future. We built our first council homes in 1919, and now we are one of the largest providers of Council housing in the country – with 20,000 homes in our stock. With one of the largest stock increase programmes in the country, a busy homelessness service and as a major social landlord, housing is a big part of what the Council does.
We care deeply about residents’ experience of our services and we know we need to adapt and improve to respond to new challenges and the changing regulatory landscape – and so we are creating this brand new service in the Housing Directorate to bring together our improvement, governance and tenant involvement work.
The role
As Head of Housing Improvement and Governance you will have overall responsibility for strategic improvement and transformation activities, regulatory assurance, and ensuring customer experience is at the heart of everything we do.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing you will lead the Business Development Unit, our tenant engagement service, a programme management team which works with Digital Services to support our digital transformation journey, and a new team created to lead on governance and assurance activities and inspection preparation. As the senior manager responsible for engagement with the Regulator of Social Housing, you will also have overall responsibility for ensuring we are prepared for an inspection and for the collection and analysis of Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs).
The person
Knowledge and experience of local government, and an understanding of the political context, relevant legislative frameworks and Government policy agendas will be key to this role. We are looking for someone with a track record of leading change and transformation activities and an excellent programme manager. You will have a passion for engagement with customers and for working in partnership to identify and deliver opportunities for service improvement. You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape for housing services.
We offer a comprehensive reward package which includes flexible working patterns and generous holiday entitlement.
