Specialist Transport Manager
Matlock/Hybrid – expectation to work in the office 2 days per week.
Lead and Innovate as a Specialist Transport Manager

Join our team as a Specialist Transport Manager and lead the way in delivering high-quality passenger transport services.
Derbyshire County Council welcomes applications from experienced passenger transport professionals to join our team and provide clear strategic and operational leadership and management. The key aspects of the role are to:
- Lead and manage specialist transport services including home to school transport (mainstream), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Adult Social Care and vulnerable community clients
- Ensure the provision of safe, legal and cost-effective transport solutions that meet County Council priorities and responds to passengers changing needs
- Collaborate closely with partners including client departments, taxi and coach operators, schools and centres, licensing authorities and stakeholder forums
- Provide financial monitoring and budgetary support to senior officers
- Develop and support the implementation of a new IT management system and new working processes.

What We’re Looking For:
- Substantial experience of passenger transport services, from a strategic and/or operational delivery aspect
- Great leadership and people management, motivation skills and experience in managing large teams
- Knowledge of statutory and regulatory aspects of passenger transport operations
- Experience of managing and monitoring multi-million budgets
- Project and programme management skills, especially tangible experience of change management improvements
- The drive and determination to ‘make a difference’ for the people of Derbyshire.
Personal Attributes: strong leadership, excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders.
