Croydon Council is leading the regeneration of Croydon town centre working with a wide range of partners and local communities to create a thriving, inclusive and welcoming environment. This exciting and high-profile role oversees the development and delivery of major transport and regeneration initiatives including the £24m Reconnected Croydon programme. Preparing and informing key strategies, policies and plans, as well as managing a busy team, providing transport input into the planning process.

Key areas of work include:

  • Providing expert professional transport advice on Council projects, major planning applications, rail, bus and tram extensions, reviews and developments and all public and private transportation proposals related to Croydon and South London. 
  • Managing transport related projects and programmes that support the transformation of Croydon. Overseeing effective delivery and budget management, including monitoring progress and reporting to the Executive Mayor, Councillors and senior officers.
  • Developing and promoting proposals to encourage the use of active and sustainable transport solutions.
  • Collaborating and building partnerships with planning, regeneration and transportation funding and delivery bodies.
  • Overseeing consultation and engagement with key partners and the communities of Croydon.

You will bring an:

  • Extensive and in depth understanding of transportation policy, strategy and planning in an urban environment and the interconnectivity of transport services.
  • An understanding of the Planning Framework and legislation particularly Local Development Frameworks and Master Planning. A sound understanding of the dynamics of a large, complex local authority and the relevant statutory frameworks.
  • Experience of working with national and regional transport bodies.
  • Demonstrable experience of being a strong corporate player who will lead, motivate and inspire their teams and build a high performing culture.
  • A professional or management qualification or educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience.
