We are about to embark on an ambitious programme of change in our city centre. Residents and businesses are telling us that our city centre needs to be safer and cleaner, and we are listening. We’re going to start by recruiting local people who know the city and want to help it reach its full potential. If you are someone who wants to make a difference, our city centre needs you!

The Regulation & Enforcement Service are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work within the Trading standards & licensing team as a Tobacco and Alcohol control officer.

Tobacco and alcohol related illness costs the economy of Doncaster millions of pounds each year and presents a clear health risk to our children and communities.

Doncaster Councils Trading Standards and Licensing service as part of our Partnership working with Public Health are looking to recruit a creative and driven individual to a dedicated team to deliver a programme of action to reduce the availability of cheap and illicit tobacco and alcohol within the borough.

The post of Tobacco and Alcohol Control Officer is funded through our Public Health partners and is focussed on delivering enforcement objectives around the illegal/illicit supply of tobacco and alcohol. You’ll build upon our established work to reduce the prevalence of illicit and illegal tobacco across the borough making a real difference to the community and legitimate business.

Enforcement is a vital part of any programme, and we are looking to recruit an enforcement officer with recent experience of practical in-depth criminal investigations. The officer will be required to carry out inspections, test purchasing, surveillance, and seizure of offending product. The successful candidate must have the ability to investigate and compile prosecutions and will be required to give evidence in court.

We are looking for someone with strong communication skills who can comfortably work with partners both internal and external to the council with an understanding of the importance of intelligence in a modern service.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes.
