What will be expected from me?

The purpose of this role is to support the Workshop Manager you will be required to work closely with other Supervising Technicians to lead, motivate and develop a team of Plant & Vehicle, Mechanics, Auto Electrician, driver labourers and apprentices to deliver an efficient vehicle maintenance & repair service for the Councils fleet users and its other public, private sector partners.

We are an award winning enthusiastic team who pride themselves on providing a top class Transport Service, in delivering an inspection, maintenance, repair and breakdown response service for a very diverse vehicle & plant fleet.

What I might be doing?

  • Supervising a specialist fleet maintenance workforce
  • Guide and communicate between the skilled workforce and fleet users.
  • Carry out inspection, maintenance and repair to vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Responsible for the safety of vehicle & plant users and general public in respect of meeting operational safety and roadworthiness standards.
  • Carry out MOT preparation and vehicle testing.

Essential requirements:

City and Guilds level 1 and 2 or NVQ level 3 in a motor vehicle engineering or equivalent trade.

  • Apprentice trained.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Availability: 1 in 5 rota = 4 weeks on days and 1 week on afternoons which includes a Saturday morning.
  • Displaying a high degree of technical knowledge of road vehicle maintenance standards.
