Deliver projects that elevate everyday life in a Royal Borough.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and businesses at the heart of everything we do. With a c.£2.5m budget, our Transportation and Highways Capital Projects team has a huge impact on residents’ daily lives. Aside from the professional pride of delivering these often-complex projects; this is also an opportunity to enhance some of the world’s most famous streets: from Albert Bridge to Portobello Road, Kensington High Street to Exhibition Road.

The Role:

As well transport, cycling and road safety-related schemes, the team also manages around 25 projects each year for other departments, private developers, and ward councillors.

For you, this means challenges of varying sizes and complexity. We will expect you to add value right from the design stage – so good AutoCAD are a must. Then, the focus will be on compiling Bills of Quantity, leading stakeholder engagement, supervising site works and keeping on top of budgets.

About You:

A relevant HNC or Degree is essential. However, this is a challenge for an engineer with a track record of successful local authority highway schemes.

A great communicator and organiser, you will be used to working on projects end-to-end. And along with a good understanding of Highways Acts – including S278 Agreements for Private Development works – you will enjoy preparing briefs and reports, managing consultants, and excel at programming, prioritising, and monitoring workloads.
