There’s never been a more exciting time to join Doncaster Council.

We are passionate about Doncaster - it is a great place to live, do business and visit.

We have plenty to shout about – Doncaster is the UK’s best-connected location, we have many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage.  We firmly believe, as do our partners, that Doncaster is the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it.  But don’t just take our word for it – anyone joining the council, can look forward to expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to the communities we serve.

The Demands and developments on Doncaster’s highway network present interesting and varied challenges.  We are currently recruiting for a Senior Technician to work within a team working hard to successfully deliver a full range of traffic engineering services.

You will take responsibility for the delivery of smaller scale traffic engineering projects and 20mph speed limit schemes, and assist with some of the Borough’s more significant highways schemes, including preparation of drawings and specifications for road signs and markings, Traffic Regulation Orders, and dealing with consultations and routine enquiries.

The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, computer skills (including CAD) and the ability to work alone or as part of a team around the district.

Good awareness of relevant regulations, legislation, design standards and guidance is required, alongside a level 4 qualification, ideally in a technical or engineering discipline.

Further details about the responsibilities and requirements of the role are contained in the job role summary and job profile.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive.  You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes.  Visit our Working in Doncaster - City of Doncaster Council page to find out more.

Shortlisting will take place week commencing 1st July 2024 and it is anticipated that interviews will be held on 8th July 2024.
