Job Details

Are you looking to make a difference for our children, young people, and vulnerable adults? We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated supervisor to be responsible for the front line operations for CTOT, Westmorland and Furness Council’s in-house operator of home to school and adult social care transport operating out of Skirsgill Depot, Penrith.

The successful candidate will be managing a team of both vocational Cat D drivers, and also D1 minibus drivers and passenger assistants. Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a full vocational Category D License, or be willing to work towards obtaining this license as an immediate priority on starting the role.

You should have proven experienced in managing people, preferably in the sector, be self-motivated, an independent thinker, confident in your own decision making and able to work flexibly around an operational day. As well as the supervision of your direct reportees, and ensuring compliance of all operational aspects you will also work closely with other area supervisors in Westmorland & Furness Council to ensure continuity of service delivery and to develop and grow the service area.

There is a requirement to be on an out of hours rota with the other CTOT Area Supervisors, 1 weekend in 3 to ensure routes are covered where there is staff absence, and you may, on occasion, be required to act as resilience and cover routes yourself either as a driver or passenger assistant.

The postholder will report directly to the Business Partner CTOT Operations, who is also the named Transport Manager on the PSV O License and also be able to support the operational and logistical work of the wider Integrated Home to School Transport Service.

A knowledge of the geography of Westmorland and Furness is advantageous.

Candidates who are successful through the interview process will also be required to take a minibus/coach driving assessment to be held on the same day of interview at our Skirsgill Operational Depot, Penrith.

This role requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s and Adults Barred List check. Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with Children and Adults.
