You will lead, motivate and develop a team of Plant & Vehicle, Mechanics, Auto Electrician, driver labourers and apprentices to deliver an efficient vehicle maintenance & repair service for the Councils fleet users and its other public, private sector partners.

We are an award winning enthusiastic team who pride themselves on providing a top class Transport Service, in delivering an inspection, maintenance, repair and breakdown response service for a very diverse vehicle & plant fleet.

What I might be doing?

  • Supervising a specialist fleet maintenance workforce
  • Guide and communicate between the skilled workforce and fleet users.
  • Carry out inspection, maintenance and repair to vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Responsible for the safety of vehicle & plant users and general public in respect of meeting operational safety and roadworthiness standards.
  • Carry out MOT preparation and vehicle testing.


Essential requirements:

City and Guilds level 1 and 2 or NVQ level 3 in a motor vehicle engineering or equivalent trade.

  • Apprentice trained.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Availability: 1 in 5 rota = 4 weeks on days and 1 week on afternoons which includes a Saturday morning.
  • Displaying a high degree of technical knowledge of road vehicle maintenance standards.
