We are currently looking to recruit an experienced HGV technician, to join our in-house maintenance operation based in Hellaby, Rotherham. The Council currently operates a fleet of over 200 vehicles and grounds maintenance machinery and aspire to provide services through our fully equipped facility.

You will be part of a strong and supportive team and will have the opportunity to develop your skills further as new technology is introduced. We are looking for hardworking and conscientious people to work in a busy environment, providing an essential and valuable service and in turn the communities of Rotherham.

The post holders will provide a high standard of fault diagnosis, maintenance, inspection, repair and MOT preparation, on a diverse range of HGVs, light vehicles and road going plant. This includes preparing, presenting, and accompanying HGV vehicles for annual MOT inspection as well as carrying out periodic safety inspections on all HGV/LCV vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.

The Post holders will work on complex hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, and complete welding, fabrication and body repairs as required, in some cases using the latest diagnostic technology.

There may be at times a requirement from time to time, to attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles and carry out permanent or temporary repairs, as well as conducting pre-delivery inspections for new fleet vehicles and decommissioning services at the end of their life cycle.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to supporting the people of Rotherham. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes.
