Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake the role of Civic Attendant within our Member Services Team.  The role will involve some working in the evenings and at weekends.

The key role is acting as the Mayor’s/Deputy Mayor’s Attendant at civic functions and chauffeuring the Mayor/Deputy Mayor to those functions.  You will be responsible for the safe and secure custody of the Civic Insignia and security of the Town Hall after certain events.

The successful applicant will possess excellent organisational and communication skills with a range of people and have confidence speaking in public.  The applicant will need to have confidence when driving and have good situational awareness, demonstrate knowledge of the democratic process within local government; and possess a high degree of probity.

This would be an excellent opportunity for an internal applicant with a flexible outlook wishing to provide the mainstay of support for the Council’s civic role.  You will be required to have a full driving licence and undertake a corporate driving assessment.

A job-share or reduced hours will be considered if applicants wish to work less than 30 hours per week.  Applications will also be considered from staff who are prepared to undertake these duties on a casual basis around existing work commitments.

For an informal discussion please contact Julian Joinson, Member Services Manager on 01254 380116

The Hyndburn district is within easy reach of Manchester, the mid-Lancashire conurbations and the M6 and M62 motorways. Formerly a predominantly cotton weaving area with some engineering, there is now an extensive range of industry.
