The Highway Capital Maintenance Team is integral to preserving the integrity and functionality of our highway infrastructure, crucial for ensuring public safety and facilitating economic growth.

Our focus is on critical maintenance activities, including patching, surface dressing, and resurfacing schemes, to address deterioration and extend the lifespan of our roads and footways. These activities are pivotal in preventing deterioration, enhancing road safety, and improving driving conditions for the community.

We are in search of a Senior Highway Engineer with specialised expertise in highway capital maintenance, particularly in the areas of patching, surface dressing, and resurfacing schemes.

This role will involve providing technical guidance and support in the planning, design, and execution of maintenance projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing road conditions, determining appropriate maintenance strategies, and ensuring that all projects are carried out efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices associated with highway maintenance and rehabilitation.

This includes a strong background in programming highway works, selecting suitable materials and techniques for patching, surface dressing, and resurfacing, as well as managing the logistical aspects of project delivery.

Experience in project management, budget oversight, and stakeholder engagement is essential. This position requires collaboration with other departments, contractors, and the public to ensure that maintenance activities are coordinated effectively and minimise disruption to road users.
