Making outdoor markets an even more vital part of our communities

From souvenirs to antiques, fresh flowers to street food, Kensington and Chelsea hosts a wide variety of outdoor markets. We have 350 trading sites along the length of Golborne Road and Portobello Road and also provide more than 200 sites for street trading at the annual Notting Hill Carnival. Working in close consultation with local people and local businesses, we now want to increase opportunities across these spaces by delivering high-quality commercial and community events.

The Role:

Your event management expertise could make all the difference to the future of markets in Kensington & Chelsea. Working closely with our Head of Culture and Place and our Street Trading Office, you’ll increase year-round footfall and create new revenue streams, new customers and new opportunities for growth. This will mean devising and promoting events, working with external providers, as well as managing schedules, customer care and other operational aspects. You will also ensure that all legal, health and safety, environmental and equality requirements are met. At the same time, you’ll have every opportunity to shape this brand new role and make it your own.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information

About You:

With a background in the events industry, you’ll bring experience of delivering outdoor events, from planning through to delivery. Highly organised, you’re capable of handling complex logistics and managing multiple projects to demanding timescales. You’re a confident and persuasive communicator with the ability to build productive relationships with customers and suppliers. You’re also highly skilled at working with the local community to understand their needs. Used to working to financial targets, you can manage and motivate temporary teams to achieve high levels of performance.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
