Westmorland and Furness Council, Highways and Transport service, are looking for an experienced, motivated, and friendly individual to join us as Assistant Lighting Engineer. We are excited to offer this permanent opportunity, and this is an excellent career step for candidates with experience in lighting, highways and construction backgrounds, looking to join a large and thriving organisation.
In this role, you will work as part of the central core Lighting team; preparing, designing and processing lighting improvement and maintenance projects, as well as undertaking inventory collection. This includes carrying out activities relating to surveys, design, specification, and data collection and input.
We are looking for strong communicators, as you will provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues in respect of specifications and standards for lighting design and maintenance. You will also provide advice on the application of legislation, regulation, policy and principles to both internal and external customers of the Council.
This role is a great opportunity for candidates who have significant experience of lighting and construction, as well as a sound knowledge of local government and dealing with customers. Awareness of construction contracts, maintenance activities and national design standards is also essential. You will be able to work under pressure, and be an effective team member, driving innovation and motivation throughout the team and service.
If you’re looking for your next challenge, and you have a passion for our service, then apply today!
We are currently operating both in-person and virtual interviews. Options will be discussed with candidates once they have been invited to the interview stage of the process for this specific position, and if you have any concerns or adjustments are needed, we are happy to discuss.
If you are invited to a virtual interview, this will preferably be undertaken using the Microsoft Teams software, which is currently free for new users, however if there are any issues with accessing this technology, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements prior to the interviews.
