An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Neighbourhood Services Team at Bolton Council.    

  

You will work within neighbourhoods throughout the borough assisting with all aspects of street cleansing and grounds maintenance. As part of your role, you will work alongside Environmental Enforcement Officers to help maintain a clean and tidy borough and typical duties will include:

•                Street cleansing duties such as litter picking highways, open spaces and shrubbed areas, removal of graffiti and fly posting, dog fouling, fly tip collection, empty and clean dog and litter bins.

•                Grounds maintenance duties such as maintenance of shrub and flower beds and pedestrian grass cutting.

•                Winter gritting snow and leaf clearance.

•                Removal of accident debris from the highway.

The team also is involved in high profile events and activities hosted within the Borough during the year. 

Bolton Council encourages development within the variety of multiskilled services it provides within Neighbourhood Services and has vacancies at varying competences to reflect this. You do not need a driving licence to apply for the role at Grade B. To apply for the Neighbourhood Care Operative Grade C or D posts you must have the following minimum driving licence category:

Grade C: Driving Licence Category B  (if you passed your test on or after 1 January 1997). You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM) with up to 8 passenger seats.

Grade D: Driving Licence Category C1 - a driving that permits you to drive up to 7,500 kg.  You can drive vehicles between 3,500 and 7,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM) (with a trailer up to 750kg).

About You:

Must be physically fit and be able to undertake all aspects of the role.  You must have the ability to understand written and verbal communication and complete routine documentation and will have excellent customer care skills.

You will also be flexible to the needs of the service and be available to work overtime as required on occasion.

An appropriate driving license is essential at Grades C & D, however a pre 1997 or LGV license would be advantageous.
