North Somerset Council has an ambitious and wide-ranging programme of Bus Service Improvements, urban regeneration, and transport improvement schemes to deliver. We are looking to for enthusiastic team players to join us and help deliver the joint West of England Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), following the second largest funding settlement nationally of £105.5m.
This will be an exciting time to work for us in what will be a fast-paced environment, as we look to expand our engineering design, public transport, transport planning, and sustainable transport teams to ensure successful delivery of our plans to transform sustainable and public transport in North Somerset alongside our colleagues across the West of England.
The BSIP projects include a major bus priority package, first and last mile integration zones, DRT, 20mph zones, mobility hubs, Decarbonisation pathways for Transport.
We are aiming for our Bus Service Improvement Plan to significantly increase bus patronage, helping to decarbonise transport in the district. It is vital that you bring the right blend of skills and experience to deliver quickly and efficiently within challenging timescales.
To support these aspirations the council’s public transport team and highway design teams are seeking to appoint a range of career grade posts, which allow you to develop and progress your career with us.
About the role
This role is permanent, you will join the team as a transport professional and focus on the behaviour change activities required to build bus patronage and decarbonise transport through passenger transport mode shift. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with a communications role that will lead on consultation and engagement workstreams directly related to BSIP/bus priority infrastructure projects, and both posts will operate as part of a joint delivery unit approach with The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) to form a coordinated communications unit for BSIP.
