Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you want to improve public transport for the City of Liverpool. Come and join us as our Public Transport Policy Lead.

You will work closely with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA), to develop an integrated and effective public transport service to encourage people out of their cars and on to the bus.

Liverpool City Council has embarked on a major improvement programme that involves all parts of the organisation. Transport & Highways are at its heart. The Transport & Highways team has just completed a comprehensive Service Review. This position is a newly created post that seeks to improve its approach towards integrating transport in the City.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading on the Local Transport Plan working closely with the LCRCA to agree long term strategies for the progression of public transport.

This is a pivotal role that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the highway service. You will be a key member of the team with the opportunity to bring your enthusiasm and ideals to develop a second to none service that Liverpool City Council will be proud of.

Reporting to the Transportation Policy and Strategy Manager you will be a self-starter with ambition and high expectations of yourself and those you work with.

This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation on an improvement journey in which you can be a key player.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the development of the LTP
  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of sustainable transport initiatives in line with national, regional and sub regional transport policy, both internally within the Council and externally within other organisations.
  • Support the development of a more customer focussed policy for transport infrastructure.
  • Provide policy input to plans and programmes to support the development and implementation of strategic transport objectives.

If you would like to talk to a member of the team about the role or have an informal discussion, please contact dorothy.joyce@liverpool.gov.uk or call 07925 358450

Please note that in accordance with the Council’s policy, employees who are in a formal redeployment situation will be considered in the first instance for all vacancies.
