Within the principle aims of preventing offending by children and young people, to work with young people who are at risk of offending or re-offending, with a particular focus on high risk cases

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Professional qualification in Social Work, Probation, Education (including Youth and Community Work) or a relevant health specialism
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to job role 
  • Significant experience of working with children, young people at risk of offending and re-offending
  • Experience of working in the Criminal Justice System
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency setting Experience of partnership working 
  • Knowledge of youth justice and safeguarding legislation and the operation of the youth justice system
  • Knowledge of restorative approaches
  • Knowledge of child development and an awareness of differing needs of children and young people
  • Knowledge of relevant behavioural change practice to bring about change in anti-social behaviour and offending behaviour
  • A good understanding of how to manage risk in the community and an understanding of and commitment to risk policies and procedures
  • Understanding of the impact of crime and the responding to needs / protection of victims 
  • Good organisational, planning skills and working to deadlines
  • Proven ability to engage with people from a variety of backgrounds, in particular those children, young people and families that are hard to reach 
  • Ability to travel to and access a range of buildings including family homes.

The interviews will take place the week commencing on 19th September 2022. Part of interview process is attending Children's/Young People panel which will be held in the evening.
