Public Health at Leicestershire County Council are looking for 7 Public Health Practitioner Apprentices, based in the Health Improvement team.
You will play an active role in supporting the Health Improvement team to implement and deliver health improvement programmes/projects, support health campaigns and deliver aspects of the current Public Health strategy.

About the role
This is a 3-year fixed term career graded post, where you will study for a degree in Public Health at Coventry University alongside working full time, gaining the knowledge, skills and experience across the various Public Health services, such as health improvement and health protection, as well as working within the local District and Borough Councils gaining understanding of the wider determinants of health such as education, transport, and housing.

We are looking for flexible and motivated individuals with excellent communication and organisational skills.

You will be joining a friendly team in a progressive authority that supports the development of its employees through continuous professional development. You will also be offered placements with partner organisations or other teams in the council to expand your skills and knowledge and the opportunity to network with other apprentices in the Council.

The post offers smarter ways of working with a combination of office and home working available. 
An enhanced DBS check (no barred list check) is required for this post.

About you
The ideal candidate will have/be able to:

  • Level 2 or equivalent English and Maths qualification, grade C/4 or above
  • Experience of building and maintaining good working relationships
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing knowledge around public health and its functions.  
  • An adaptable/flexible approach to working
  • Evidence good communication and organisational skills
  • Work as part of a team whilst being self-motivated, proactive, and innovative

*Individuals already in possession of a BSC and MSC in Public Health are not eligible for this role.*
