Help change the lives of young people in a high-profile London borough.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are focused on putting our residents and local businesses at the heart of every decision. From the policy decisions that we're making through to the services that we’re delivering, it’s vital that we put the needs of our community first. We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment, and our Communities department plays a vital part in achieving these goals.

The Role:

Joining our new and fast-growing team, you’ll deliver specialist youth violence support work which aims to reduce violence and exploitation across our borough. In doing so, you’ll also be playing an active role in shaping our service and achieving excellence in care.

The role has a varied and challenging workload. This includes delivering one-to-one intensive support for young people, carrying out safeguarding interventions and providing pathways that help young people access the services they need.

You’ll work with young people primarily aged 11 and 19, or 25 if they’re leaving care or have special educational needs. Through the course of your work, you’ll build invaluable relationships and find innovative solutions to issues including violent crime, drug-related offending and criminal exploitation.

You’ll also be a core member of the Youth Violence and Exploitation Community Safety Partnership, contributing to multi-agency panel meetings to make sure young people and families are consistently safeguarded.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information

About You:

We’re looking for experience in tackling youth violence and exploitation, including working in partnerships, delivering group work, encouraging youth participation and carrying out street-based outreach work. You’ll also need a good knowledge of child protection and the indicators of behaviours that make young people vulnerable to harm.

As for skills, you should be a capable risk assessor, a skilled administrator and adept at building a wide range of partnerships. You should also have a recognised and relevant qualification in Youth or Community Work.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent learning and development opportunities.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s alone will not be considered for this role.
