Bradford Department of Health and Wellbeing has a strong vision for supporting adults to be in control of their lives including making decisions about where they live. Social work has a key role to play in working to provide opportunities for fulfilling lives in local communities. The Shared Lives model features strongly in this vision.

Our lives get better when they’re shared - Bradford Shared Lives is part of a UK wide network of schemes.  Shared Lives carers share their homes and family life with an adult who needs support to live everyday life.  This scheme provides full-time, short breaks and day support - our innovative Compass service offers flexible, outcomes based day support.

We are looking for an individual who wants to practice with colleagues who believe we need to build Shared Lives placements that provide people with valued and positive lifestyles options for living arrangements in a community setting. To enable the team to strengthen, promote and raise awareness of this model we are seeking to recruit an Level 2 social worker to join a well-established, nationally significant and very experienced Shared Lives scheme.

The role will require excellent organisational skills and the ability to develop and deliver the services      and undertake the more traditional social work roles. On joining this team you will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with Shared Lives carers and develop innovative ways of providing support.

Shared Lives nationally is consistently rated the safest and best quality social care by the Care Quality Commission and our scheme will give opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the improvement on the Care Quality Commission current rating of GOOD.

The Shared Lives service, as a model, keeps the person at the heart of the service and support they receive. The candidates will have a commitment to Liberty Safeguards and the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and Human Rights Act. You will be a qualified; Social Work England registered Social Worker looking for a creative opportunity to develop the current provision.
