The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) are a nationally driven initiative which offers mental health early intervention and prevention to children and young people. This is via low-intensity CBT both on a 1:1 basis and via groups within education settings.

To support our exciting expansion plans we are currently looking for experienced registered health professional to support in providing mental health support to Children and Families across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. A minimum of 2 years’ experience with young people is essential and CBT or equivalent in therapeutic interventions training/experience is desirable.

There is an opportunity for this post to be either permanent or secondment - please get in contact to discuss options further.

Your development in this role will be supported through completion of the Post-Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Supervision at The University of Northampton. It is 12 months in duration and will consist of academic and supervised practice learning.

Main duties of the job

Key areas of work will be:

- Supporting the Senior Mental Health Lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach

- Responsible for liaising directly with schools, developing and co-producing materials for evidence-based interventions and presentations

- Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education

- Supporting the EMHPs in delivering high-quality CBT interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties in and around schools, through clinical and managerial supervision.

- Holding a clinical caseload and be actively involved in delivering universal and targeted group interventions in schools. These interventions will be CBT based, your experience will be invaluable in developing and delivery of individual and group CBT interventions to young people and parents

- Supporting the continued development of the team and service including being involved in, and leading, on service development workstreams to support our ongoing expansion.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

  • RMN, RNMH, RMCN, RLDN or other nurse qualification, Social Work qualification, Systemic Therapy
  • qualification Occupational Therapy Qualification and registration with professional body
  • Additional training in child and adolescent mental health
  • Qualification in therapeutic approaches with children and families eg CBT, solution focussed therapy, play therapy
  • Willingness to train for the PG Diploma in low intensity supervision

Desirable

  • Postgraduate level of study/degree relevant to discipline or equivalent

Experience Essential

  • 2 years post qualification experience working therapeutically with children and families
  • Experience of delivering CBT-informed supervision, ideally of practice related to education settings, supervising CYPMHS clinicians and trainees
  • Experience of working with evidence-based approaches to low mood, anxiety, and behaviour problems
  • Experience of working with children, young people and parents presenting with a range of mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour
  • Have contributed to multidisciplinary team meetings and co-working assessments and treatment within clinic-based and education-based settings
  • Experience in managing safeguarding concerns and risk to self/others
  • To hold a clinical caseload of complex health needs including mental health as a lead professional within a multi-agency team
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Experience of supervision

Desirable

  • Two years post qualification experience delivering CBT-informed supervision in a CYPMH setting
  • Experience of using Routine Outcome Measures, including in supervision
  • Formulation and treatment of children and young people with mental health difficulties
  • Experience of undertaking delegated leadership tasks and managing trainee staff effectively
  • Experience of delivering and supervising delivery of mental health approaches schools
