We’re the fifth biggest Metropolitan District in the country and the UK’s youngest city, and now the next national City of Culture for 2025. Our district is alive with energy, enterprise and potential and home to some of the finest cultural assets, landscapes and manufacturing sectors in the country. It’s a great place to live and work.  Bradford offers a unique blend of opportunity, challenge and exceptional quality of life to outstanding and innovative leaders who can enable and oversee positive change.

The scale, diversity and productive potential of the city district is reflected in its strong, broad-based, innovative and entrepreneurial business community, which is part of an overall local economy worth £9.5 billion, the 11th largest in England. The potential for sustainable growth, is now our focus for the legacy of our diverse and exciting communities and business partners.

Our potential is enormous and having been named as the UK City of Culture 2025, we are uniquely placed to deliver on our ambition to enhance the district’s ability to promote itself as a great place to live, visit, work, invest in and study. Critically it is now about building legacy benefits that reflect our commitment to clean growth, a strong sustainable economy and opportunity for our community to excel, leaving no one behind. This is the most exciting time to join our team and shape a future.

Reporting to the Strategic Director of Place and providing strategic leadership to these key place-shaping services, you’ll bring a proactive, enabling and collaborative approach to facilitating inclusive economic growth, supporting new investment and sustaining development pace across the district. Taking a corporate approach to supporting inward investment and the development community you will ensure that key stakeholders are involved in place-making at the earliest opportunity, meeting the needs of the Council and the wider district whilst creating, encouraging and role modelling a culture of achievement and service excellence through efficiency and continuous improvement. The role demands positive partnership engagement approach, alignment of strategic functions across PT&H and a focus on providing a modern service to support our pace of growth.

We’re looking for a leader who can enable and unlock the potential of our teams, with a proven track record of delivering whole-scale change at a senior level in large, complex organisations. Equally important to us is your style of leadership, you’ll be a role model for best practice and innovation, able to inspire and encourage our committed, dedicated workforce and partners to deliver on our key priorities across our communities.

If you have the energy, enthusiasm and skills to make a real impact and deliver the best possible outcomes, then we would like to hear from you.
