We’re the fifth biggest Metropolitan District in the country and the UK’s youngest city, and now the next national City of Culture for 2025. Our district is alive with energy, enterprise and potential and home to some of the finest cultural assets, landscapes and manufacturing sectors in the country. It’s a great place to live and work.  Bradford offers a unique blend of opportunity, challenge and exceptional quality of life to outstanding and innovative leaders who can enable and oversee positive change.

The scale, diversity and productive potential of the city district is reflected in its strong, broad-based, innovative and entrepreneurial business community, which is part of an overall local economy worth £9.5 billion, the 11th largest in England. The potential for sustainable growth, is now our focus for the legacy of our diverse and exciting communities and business partners.

Our potential is enormous and having been named as the UK City of Culture 2025, we are uniquely placed to deliver on our ambition to enhance the district’s ability to promote itself as a great place to live, visit, work, invest in and study. Critically it is now about building legacy benefits that reflect our commitment to clean growth, a strong sustainable economy and opportunity for our community to excel, leaving no one behind. This is the most exciting time to join our team and shape a future.

In this high-profile, strategic leadership role for the Council you’ll be seeking to enable pace of growth and sustainable change to help us realise the opportunities brought about by our status as UK City of Culture. You’ll play a key role in leading the authority’s commitment to deliver more integrated services that enable growth and support our communities to gain opportunities from truly transformative opportunities. You will build on significant investment into globally leading approaches that respond to pandemic impacts and driving key areas that unlock the pace of sustainable growth.  The role connects the role of public, private and third sectors, centred on green recovery, enviro-economic growth and delivering the first national testbed location for sustainable development. Delivering on our commitment to grow our local economy in an inclusive and sustainable way, you’ll build, nurture and sustain effective multi-agency partnerships across the locality ensuring the delivery of needs-led integrated, joined-up, fit for purpose and responsive services. This is about place making at pace, for business, for communities and enhancing opportunity.

We’re looking for a leader who can enable and unlock the potential of our teams, with a proven track record of delivering whole-scale change at a senior level in large, complex organisations. Equally important to us is your style of leadership, you’ll be a role model for best practice and innovation, able to inspire and encourage our committed, dedicated workforce and partners to deliver on our key priorities across our communities.

If you have the energy, enthusiasm and skills to make a real impact and deliver the best possible outcomes, then we would like to hear from you.
