An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated social worker to join Essex County Council, working within Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) as locally we invest in the development of social workers and as we play a lead role in the 'Think Ahead' initiative

We are seeking enthusiastic and resourceful social workers who will have the ability to respond positively and creatively to the needs of our service users. You will work at the forefront of our community mental health treatment teams in the south Essex area (Basildon) providing EPUT's secondary mental health services. The posts require people with a high degree of flexibility and creativity and a positive, forward-thinking attitude.

You must be an excellent communicator, dynamic and well versed and assertive in multi-disciplinary working and developing and maintaining relationships with key partners.

The Team

This role sits within the Dual Diagnosis team. You will work at the forefront of our community mental health treatment teams in the south Essex area (Basildon) providing EPUT's secondary mental health services. You will also provide specialist mental health knowledge and support to the Drug and Alcohol partnership within South Essex. The post requires an individual with a high degree of flexibility and creativity and a positive, forward-thinking attitude with experience in both Mental Health and Substance Misuse.

This is an exciting opportunity to join mental health social work in our Partnership organisation that promotes the standards for Employers of Social Work and subscribe to the Department of Health's Social Work for Better Mental Health programme, and the Think Ahead initiative. As a Social Worker, you will play a key part in providing social care service and exemplar social work practice within the Recovery Wellbeing Community Mental Health Team ensuring that excellence of service is provided across the department. You will contribute to change management, concluding ECC's transformation and ensuring it is configured for continuous improvement adhering to the Key Performance Indicators as provided by ECC under the Section 75 partnership agreement.

About You

To apply you should be a qualified social worker with a current Social Work England registration. You'll bring at least 1 year's social work experience, evidence of continuing professional development, and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards. Ideally you will bring experience of mental health and substance misuses. You well have sound knowledge of the Care Act and Dual Diagnosis.

This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service.
