With a proud heritage and bright future, Stoke-on-Trent is a small but mighty city, committed to empowering those who live here to lead healthy, independent and fulfilling lives. We have a compelling vision for our future and are at the centre of the government’s levelling-up agenda. We are a City Council driven to deliver improvement and exemplary partnership working, supporting people to have the greatest opportunity to thrive.

Our new Director will lead an ambitious transformation programme bringing together adult social care, health integration, wellbeing and public health. We are well underway on the road to improvement, but there is more to do. We are looking for an experienced leader with a passion for adult social care and improving population health, to further develop our health integration agenda and make a difference to inequalities in outcomes.

You will connect with colleagues across the council, NHS and external partners to support the delivery of our Stronger Together vision.

The successful candidate will act as statutory Director of Adult Social Services, and potentially also as statutory Director of Public Health if suitably qualified. The option of a joint role has already been successfully delivered here in recent years, and we are convinced of its merit and have structures in place to ensure high performance across both areas of statutory duty if the opportunity is there.

Either way, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference enabling residents to fulfil their potential and supporting the most vulnerable in our communities.

Are you up for the challenge?
