Help us achieve even more in our fantastic Library and Archive Service.

The opportunity to learn, read and connect is the cornerstone of a great quality of life. At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we place our libraries and archives at the heart of this belief, and as such we have teamed up with our partners at Westminster City Council to create shared bi-borough services that make best use of the resources available to us. However, like most councils, we currently face the complex challenge of meeting stretching income targets, as well as savings – so this role offers the chance to get involved in innovative commercial and income-generating projects. Join us in this work, and you will have the opportunity to establish our team as the go-to experts for the successful delivery of all commercial projects.

The Role:

Bringing fresh ideas and approaches to the table, you will help establish new initiatives that will support our commercial strategy, ensuring the relevant project management tools and methodologies are being used. Providing support to a wide variety of functions in their individual income-generating initiatives, you will identify where library and archive staff may be working on similar projects that could be brought together. You will bring a commercial mindset to this role, will oversee our financial reporting capabilities and support the wider team which includes funding and development, marketing and communications and volunteering and communities. You will also provide broad project management and administrative support, including designing promotional materials and writing guidance and process documents.

About You:

To make the most of this interesting role, you will have great organisational skills with good attention to detail and communication capabilities. You will have project management experience along with knowledge of financial processes and procedures, and you will be comfortable working with external suppliers to secure the best deals. While experience of working within a local authority would be advantageous, it is more important that you have a background in working within commercial projects, and that you have a genuine passion for reading and making content and information available in digital, print and other forms. With experience of working a customer-focused service, you will be a collaborative team player who has great problem-solving skills.

Join us in this fascinating challenge, and you will have access to a wide range of desirable benefits, plus excellent training and development opportunities.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s alone will not be considered for this role.
