The Transport Strategy service is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join an ambitious and innovative team. The team has a central role in developing transport policies and programmes that support the delivery of the Council’s Carbon Neutral 2028 Plan and other economic and environmental strategies. The post offers the opportunity to lead the preparation of our next Local Transport Plan and all aspects of transport planning including policy development, bidding for funding, commissioning projects, scheme delivery, communications and monitoring and evaluation activities. The post holder will lead a team of colleagues and partners to help deliver on a wide range of Council Plan and partner transport related objectives.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High level understanding and experience and degree or equivalent in Transport and/ or Land Use Planning or other related discipline or a minimum of three years employment experience in a relevant area.
  • Detailed knowledge of current transport planning policy, associated legislation, practice and procedures. Including local transport planning and transport modelling.
  • Experienced in working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, to efficiently deliver a range of transport projects that meet customer needs.
  • Ability to present and communicate complex local transport issues in an appropriate and effective manner to a wide range of customers, stakeholders and partners.
