Are you a great team player, with excellent communication skills?
We are looking for the right candidate to join our team as a Street Lighting Operative. This is a key role, in a team that is responsible for the maintenance and provision of street lighting, illuminated signs and other associated highway power supplies.
Cumbria County Council manages and maintains over 44,500 streetlights across the county, and the ideal person for this role will contribute to the team with a focus on performance, safety and quality.
In this role, your day-to-day activities will involve maintaining and inspecting various street furniture, including lanterns, illuminates signs and bollards etc., as well as the installation of lighting columns, signposts, pedestrian beacons along with other relevant fixtures and apparatus.
You will also be completing inspections and where necessary, producing basic technical reports; driving vehicles, as well as completing daily vehicle checks and routine maintenance; and taking part in out of hour functions, such as call out and night scouting.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of working within a street lighting environment, along with experience in a customer-focused service, where personal conduct is key. Essential requirements are a full UK driving licence, and, ideally, LANTRA 1b and G39 Certification.
We are looking for someone who can work well as part of a team, but also has the ability to work with minimum supervision, and who can communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholders.
