Job Purpose: To work as part of a team to deliver a best value, customer-focussed service throughout Leicestershire and occasionally, surrounding counties. You will provide an excellent delivery and collection service for temporary traffic management signage for the Highway Delivery workforce. Your work will also support the provision of highway maintenance, construction, forestry and street lighting activities where stop/go boards are required to direct the flow of traffic, and where the Hi-Ab is required to facilitate delivery and collection of materials. You are responsible for safe temporary traffic management provisions for the site.

Activities included in this job specification are: Distribution and collection of signs, Distribution and collection of materials and waste using the Hi Ab; Assisting gangs with stop/ go and other traffic management solutions  

The Sign Services & Traffic Management Operative will take responsibility for the installation and dismantling of signs from the site of diversion routes, and assisting with temporary traffic management requirements for gangs engaged in other activities for Highways Delivery as directed

The Sign Services & Traffic Management Operative will report to the depot for a daily briefing and de-briefing by the Supervisor, and when the situation demands, may be designated the lead person to take responsibility for the delivery of performance targets, and compliance with health and safety requirements during the course of the daily activities.  It is anticipated that this will require additional time to report, and so will be compensated for by an agreed overtime payment.

They will ensure Health and Safety guidelines are followed, such as the wearing of correct PPE, and following rules for temporary traffic management if on site, as well as observing correct practices when using specialist machinery and materials.
