 Job description

The Fleet team at City of York Council have an exciting opportunity for an HGV mechanic to join a strong team in a great working environment.

The successful candidate will have relevant skills, qualifications, and experience to carry out maintenance and servicing on a diverse fleet of HGVs, plant, vans and cars and must have experience of inspecting HGVs and MOT prep to current legislation and standards.

You will be working in a modern workshop with both fixed and column vehicle lifts as well as modern vehicle tools.

City of York Council can offer you regular training courses and development opportunities and work practices to promote an excellent work-life balance.

HGV license and class 4 & 7 MOT tester desirable but not essential.

Salary breakdown (*£25,380 - £27,541 as standard [Grade 7], plus 3 hours contractual overtime £2,057.94 - £2,233.00 and £1,989.75 -£2,002.90 additional shift allowance).

37 hours per week (plus 3 hours contractual overtime)

Alternative week shift pattern 

Week 1 Early Shift: Mon – Thu 06:00 – 15:30 Fri 06:00 – 10:00

Week 2 Late Shift: Mon – Thu 09:30 – 18:00 Fri 8:00 – 16:30

Stand by 1 week in 8 with additional payments and overtime for callouts. Vehicle provided.
