Imagine a diverse town full of contrasts, a strong identity and residents who are proud to call it home. A town centre that is bustling and is the focal point of regeneration, retail, housing, leisure and economic growth.  A place that is home to high-quality education, that is investing in infrastructure and employment initiatives, attracting inward investment and providing local people with jobs for the future.  This is Bolton.

We have come through the pandemic stronger than ever, facing challenges together, and it is this strength that will see us continue to deliver our Bolton 2030 vision, derived from pride in our place and the aspirations of local people, with a simple ambition at its heart; a borough in which our children will grow up in a vibrant place, built on robust cohesive communities, successful businesses and healthy residents.

Responsible for a revenue budget of approximately £7m and delivery of a capital programme currently valued at c£10-15m per annum, our Assistant Director of Highways and Engineering will drive forward services, innovative projects and programmes that will ensure our borough is well connected, provides residents and business with access to sustainable transport options, and  addresses our carbon reduction ambitions.  This role will work collaboratively across the Council and with colleagues across Greater Manchester ensuring that network and transport planning, engineering, maintenance, and development of highways assets are central to growth strategies. The post holder will also be responsible for parking services and for managing the relationship with the Councils appointed contractors for ‘off-street’ parking and ‘on street enforcement.
