Fixed term (until 30th September 2023)

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Highways, Transport & Climate Change Division, Neighbourhoods, Planning and Public Protection for a Project Manager, working alongside the Team Leader – Highways, Traffic and Enforcement to manage the delivery of the planned Welsh Government (WG) 20mph default speed limit throughout the county borough.

The post holder will be required to undertake all project management duties necessary to deliver those essential activities, be accountable and responsible for planning, structuring, leading and executing all the various tasks, elements of the project. Although this is a project management role involving strategic, project-based working, there is also a hands-on operational responsibility for the planning and implementation of the project to achieve objectives.

The project manager will also need to work closely with internal/external design staff and other stakeholders in completing survey, design, procurement, traffic regulation orders works, project communication, member/public consultation, financial management, scheme supervision, implementation and project handover.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Professional project management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent experience - Essential
  • Experience of delivering complex engineering project(s) with multiple tasks on time and on budget - Essential
  • Ability to quickly adapt and use initiative to solve unforeseen practical problems - Essential
