The Royal Borough of Greenwich is undergoing major change with substantial developments under way with a major home building programme and the arrival of the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail), with new stations at Woolwich and Abbey Wood. These bring a range of longer-term challenges associated with the pace of new development, the continuing need to support local businesses and the predicted population and employment growth.
The Council’s Transport team plays a key role in supporting these changes by ensuring the most effective use of transport and parking resources and the successful movement of people and goods. This is critical to the vitality of the Royal Borough and the well-being of residents and visitors and existing and prospective businesses. The council has also got targets set from the Carbon Neutral Plan to achieve by 2030 and Transformation is key to ensuring we meet these.
The post holder will work with Corporate Senior Managers and Directorate Management Teams to challenge, support, manage and enable the definition, management and delivery of the overall Transportation Transformation, which includes Parking, Highways, Traffic and Transport Planning.
The post holder will be required to manage Directorate, Function Change Programmes, Projects and Workstreams which will require them to plan, co-ordinate and indirectly manage diverse groups of staff. This postholder will be required to carry out a number of different activities that will all be dependent on each other for the successful delivery of the Transformation Programme (e.g. process mapping, data analysis, user research, service design, Risk Management Plans, Communication Plans and Dependencies Register etc.
You will lead on the definition and maintenance of the standards of project management and project change process within the Transport Division within Royal Greenwich by working flexibly across the division, working with different management teams and services. You will have to apply your knowledge and skills in a highly flexible way to help resolve complex problems and move the organisation forward. The post holder will often have to work semi-autonomously and therefore will be required to be pro-active and build good working relationships quickly.
The post holder will report to the Assistant Director of Transportation and will supported by the Head of Parking and Head of Traffic and Highways, as well as other strategic members of the division.
The post holder will hold qualifications in Prince2 Project Management methodology.
