We are looking for a civil engineer or person willing to train as a civil engineer (with relevant experience) to join our south area of Cumbria team working in South Lakeland and Barrow district areas.
As Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) we prepare flood defense proposals for flooded communities where Sec 19 reports have been published to ensure provision of an effective and appropriate standard of service, reflecting the relevant policies, technical principles, and guidance with regards to drainage. As a Development Management Officer (DMO) you would chair meetings with Making Space for Water Groups across Cumbria with aid from a supportive management team.
We also carry out a statutory duty to the 9 planning authorities. We provide technical advice in accordance with the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and the relevant Highway legislation to aid and coordinate the Council response to applications. As statutory consultees we receive planning applications that we advise on, covering technical requirements for highways, sustainable drainage and flood risk for LLFA. Applications are responded to within 21 days, giving time to apply engineering judgement to the proposed development, conduct site visits and engage with the client.
