Cumbria County Council has the fourth largest highways network in England with 7,900 km of carriageway, 4,000 km of footways and cycleways, 145,000 gullies and 45,000 lighting columns.

As a Civil Engineering Technician apprentice in the Highways service you will be actively involved in ensuring that this vital asset is maintained to ensure the network operates efficiently.

You will be expected to effectively assist with a range of duties connected with the various Highways Service Areas including Flood and Development Management, Asset Management, Bridges and Structures, Traffic Management, Network Management, Streetworks and Operational Delivery.
