Job Details

We are looking to appoint an experienced Quality and Learning Officer to oversee the quality of teaching and learning for the Royal Borough’s Adult and Community Learning (ACL) programme, ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered by the Council’s sub-contracted providers to meet the needs of learners, support the Council’s priorities for employment and skills, and fulfil Education and Skills Funding Agency, Greater London Authority (GLA) and Ofsted requirements.

The Quality and Learning Officer will support the commissioning of Adult Skills and Community Learning programmes, ensuring that quality assurance measures are embedded in specifications, compliance, tendering and evaluation processes and the implementation of a Quality Improvement Framework Toolkit for all providers.

This role is key to the ACL provision in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, sustaining a culture of continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment, in line with the Education and Inspection Framework. The ACL programme is managed by the Adult Skills and Community Learning Team within the Employment and Skills Division of the Council.  The Team is responsible for the leadership, management, development and delivery of the ACL programme, which is currently delivered by a wide range of 10 subcontractors.

Typically, our courses are either pre-entry, entry or Level 1 and are mainly non-accredited provision. Most of our courses are short, for example, they vary between 10-30 hours.  Some qualification courses may be longer. A lot of our provision focuses on outcomes which help improve the lives of disadvantaged communities and enhance employment opportunities for low skilled residents. Other provision ranges from employability skills, basic skills, ESOL, and enterprise support training through to family learning, and support for health, physical activity and well-being such as healthy eating, food and cooking.

Our courses are delivered in community venues, large and small, across the borough, with some courses taught online using Microsoft Teams.

This is a part-time role of 3 days per week.  Flexible and agile working is welcomed.  An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
