Highways Trainee Technician - 36 Hours Per Week

Full time: Permanent

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a Local Authority going from strength to strength, with an approved £12 million project to update its street lighting assets and significantly reduce its Carbon Footprint over the next 4 years. You will receive a competitive salary as well as joining a supportive team. If you are experienced in street lighting / urban traffic control.

The roles will support the Street Lighting Senior Engineers and Team Leader and be part of the team responsible for the investigation and resolution of street lighting / Urban Traffic Control (UTC) faults and enquiries, also the delivery of the £12 million street lighting asset improvement project. The roles will require you to work closely with our partners to plan, repairs, renewals and improvements. You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills, be organised, be able to manage your time to respond to the demands on the service. You will be required to assist other service areas, developers and third parties on the lighting and or UTC aspects of their works.

Key functions include: 

Assist as required with a wide range of engineering duties including, site visits, inspections, surveys and investigation. Preparation of reports and designs for highway, streetlighting, engineering and transportation works.

Assist with the supervision of Apprentices and contractors, including measuring and agreeing completed works.

Operate computerised systems and software for the preparation of reports, designs and for asset / fault management purposes.

Assist with the investigation of complaints.

Assist with data management and analysis.

Liaise as required with customers, third parties and other appropriate agencies both internal and external.

Provision of technical support and advice.
