The Transport Services Team is responsible for the Council's transport resources function including the maintenance of its 850 vehicle mixed fleet plus associated plant equipment. The Team is also responsible for the provision of the Council's transport resources function including the Safer Driving Programme the pool car scheme fuel logistics vehicle hire leasing and procurement and the vehicle telematics systems. In addition the Team ensures compliance with the requirements of the Council's Vehicle Operator's Licences.

We are looking for a Transport Compliance Officer to ensure that the Council is adhering to its legal obligations with respect to the safety of its vehicle fleet and drivers. The role will entail undertaking driver and vehicle compliance audits at various Council premises across Cumbria. In addition the postholder will be responsible for providing regular vocational driver licence reports to ensure that the correct entitlements to drive are held by the workforce. The role will also involve the provision of advice to colleagues across the organisation including the delivery of training to internal customers.
