Job Details
Bexley is a popular place to put down roots and for businesses to start and grow. There is a wealth of quality housing and employment land where large and small businesses alike are investing for the future. New and existing communities will be strong, sustainable, cohesive and prosperous. Our goal is that our people across the borough will have a better quality of life and improved wellbeing, supported by high quality housing, rewarding employment opportunities and effective local services and facilities.
Director of Public Health, Deputy Director of Health & Wellbeing | salary up to £122,144
You will be joining an organisation that firmly believes in prevention; public health has a key role to play in delivering Bexley’s vision for healthy, sustainable communities, and will work with a wide range of internal and external partners from planning and housing colleagues to GPs. In common with many other authorities, our public health challenges include obesity in childhood and adulthood, Type 2 Diabetes, CVD and late diagnosis of HIV. Whilst we have developed and implemented a range of strategies to address these challenges, there is still more to do.
You will play an integral system leadership role, shaping the future of Public Health across Bexley, where we have developed a more targeted, locality-based prevention service over the last four years. We are looking for a Director of Public Health to join our system in a leadership role. You will place equal value on high quality partnerships and collaborative working, building upon already established relationships with the ICS and South East London network of Directors of Public Health.
The Director of Public Health is a registered public health specialist and has a statutory responsibility to produce an independent annual report on the health of the population, progress on improving health and reducing inequalities and making recommendations that will enrich the lives of the local population. The successful applicant will lead on the development of a strategic needs assessment for the Bexley area to ensure our residents are able to live healthy lives.
