This is an exciting and important role where you will be part of a dedicated expert technical team. With excellent communication and negotiation skills, you will need to work effectively with sections within the Transport team, including Highway Design to maintain the systems and processes used to support and monitor the project, ensuring it is delivered to agreed timescales and within budget.

As our Project Officer, you will need to be flexible, ambitious and agile and be willing to learn the work of the Transport Service. You will need to be good at managing and prioritising many tasks at any one time.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, which allow the individual to make and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of people including senior people in a wide variety of organisations and teams

We're looking for someone with outstanding excellent IT skills and be advanced in their use of Microsoft Office 365 especially MS Project, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel but also the new apps such as Microsoft OneNote, Planner and SharePoint.

The role will be very challenging. You will be required to identify and manage the resource required throughout the programme to enable delivery. You must be productive and hardworking and able to evidence a previous track record of achievements, with advanced oral and written communication skills, a high level of resilience when working to multiple and demanding deadlines and under significant pressure, as well as flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances in an environment of regular scrutiny by the media, the community and others.

Do you have ambition and an eye for identifying and pursuing future opportunities to assist with the project management of our portfolio of highway/ transport infrastructure projects?

If this sounds like you, this is your opportunity to join a dynamic team, bringing together highway design, transport planning including management of the highway and transportation investment programme, strategic traffic management, supporting complex infrastructure projects, Active Travel Schemes, travel demand management and behaviour change.
