About us

This is an exciting opportunity to join a close, friendly and high performing team in one of the best performing councils in the country for household waste management. We also offer great flexible working arrangements where applicable to help meet your and our needs.

This is key role in a small but dynamic team, who are collectively responsible for the smooth running and management of Oxfordshire’s waste disposal contracts including household waste recycling centres, closed landfill sites, energy from waste, transfer stations, anaerobic digestion, street sweeping processing, composting and clinical waste treatment.

About the role

Your principal duties supporting the two Principal Officers will include managing performance of contracts through site visits, contract meetings, budget and financial management and dealing directly with enquiries and complaints. You will have the opportunity to get involved in procurement and will help represent the authority on a number of groups, webinars and seminars. A high level of trust will be provided to you, and you will have a degree of autonomy to make the role your own. You will also be provided with appropriate training and have the opportunity to gain new skills to help progress both the authority’s ambitions and your career in waste and contract management.

We are proud to be part of the Oxfordshire Resources and Waste Partnership and the postholder will also have regular liaison with city and district council partners.

About you

You will have experience and knowledge of waste contracts, excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills, be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and most importantly have a dynamic can do attitude and be a team player.
