Traffic Management Officer - Carlisle
This Highways team are looking for a proactive and hard-working individual to join us as a Traffic Management Officer covering Carlisle. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and hard-working team.
This role involves working within the traffic team liaising with members of the public and councillors agreeing and programming the workload of the traffic team for the relevant area. This is a predominantly office-based role with some site work / meetings. You will be responsible for ensuring all works are undertaken within agreed timescales and to budgets in accordance with service procedures highway specifications and the relevant legislation.
The work of the traffic team includes the preparation design and processing of Traffic Management Orders for temporary and permanent schemes for example to achieve casualty reduction and new parking arrangements. Liaising with the public and stakeholders is paramount and you will work closely with colleagues both within the highways service and throughout the County Council such as Legal Services for Traffic Orders and instructing and coordinating implementation works with the in-house Operations Team
Who we are looking for
The applicant must have highways experience and be familiar with traffic regulation orders and they need to be able to produce detailed scheme drawings work packages and draft reports. The post is public facing and the candidate should have good IT and communication skills as well as written skills and be able to work in a team environment.
You will represent the Council and promote a good relationship with the public and members by providing advice and information concerning all aspects of traffic management and related matters. The ideal candidate will be proactive have excellent customer service skills and a flexible approach.
