Social Worker (Childrens Services)

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We have high aspirations for all our children and young people, including those who are looked after by the local authority. We aim to place all of our Children Looked After within our Foster family homes and ensure good outcomes for them.
Working across Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster councils in a shared service agreement, our Fostering and Permanence Service takes a creative, collaborative approach to supporting placements and creating positive experiences for carers and children.
This is an opportunity to work closely with colleagues across children’s services as part of a shared service team. We’re a diverse, supportive and passionate group of professionals with plenty of experience to share.
By developing a range of high-quality placements, you’ll help to reduce our reliance in independent fostering agencies. Day to day, you will provide supervision and support across a balanced caseload, allowing you to offer individual attention and go the extra mile in supporting carers.

A qualified and registered social worker, you’ll have solid experience in children and families work, including statutory childcare issues. You’ll be familiar with fostering and fostering standards, including family placement work and permanence planning. Well-organised yet flexible, you’ll be ready to meet challenging targets and timescales. We’ll also look to you to be innovative and generate new ideas to move the service forward, and expect you to develop your own and others’ professional practice.
