Salary: £19,698 to £20,492 pro rata

Our Registration Service is a statutory service delivered by the County Council on behalf of the Registrar General and the General Register Office (GRO), which is part of the Home Office. Our main purpose is to create accurate and timely records of all births, still-births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships occurring across North Yorkshire. We also offer other services such as citizenship ceremonies, and non-statutory civil ceremonies such as Renewal of Vows.
As our Relief Ceremonies Registrar you will take part in the delivery and registration of marriage, civil partnership and other non-statutory ceremonies such as baby naming and renewal of vows ceremonies at the Registration Office or any of our approved venues, primarily in the Ryedale area.
Our ceremonies are delivered daily so a flexible approach is essential, we will always seek your availability beforehand as we know you may have other commitments. Whilst ceremonies will be busier than usual due to the pandemic, it is usual for the service to be a lot busier in the summer months and quieter in the winter months.
Ceremonies are not just at the Registration Office, you may be required to perform ceremonies in any of our approved locations, either way you will have a chance to be part of someone’s special day.
Previous registration experience would be an advantage but full training will be given.
What you will bring
You must be able to demonstrate a high standard of professional service delivery of dealing with the public preferably in a front line service, with good communication and organisational skills and the ability to assist clients from all backgrounds in what can be highly charged emotional situations. Attention to detail, good public speaking skills and a smart appearance are essential for this post. You should also have a high level of commitment to delivering a quality service with good customer care.
